The Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence held the 2nd annual Clubs Fore Kids Golf Tournament on July 28, 2008 at the renowned private Lake of Isles South Course, adjacent to Foxwoods Casino.

Everyone had a great time playing this exclusive course, taking part in various contests, and bidding on some outstanding auction items – all while raising much needed funds to support Providence’s youth.

At the end of the day more than $50,000 had been raised for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence!

Jim Purcell
of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island took the shot at the $1,000,000 hole in one on the 16th hole, sadly he didn't make.

John Wolfe, playing on the Cox Communications team, was the only golfer to qualify to take the shot at a 50' putt and try for $10,000.  But after a long day of golf he wasn't able to sink the last long putt.

Everyone was able to try to win the 2009 Nissan Maxima by getting hole in one from the 16th tee.  Sadly, the course was not kind on Monday and the car had to be returned to the dealership without a new owner.

  The Day's Activities Included:

  • Continental Breakfast sponsored by Providence Central Labor Council
  • Lunch on the Course
  • Post-tournament reception
  • $1,000,000 Hole-In-One Competition
  • Hole-In-One Comeptition to win a 2009 Nissan Maxima, sponsored by Nissan of East Providence
  • $10,000 50’ Putt Contest
  • Prizes for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive

Each foursome was joined at a hole by a golf pro to get a little advice and feedback on their technique, and the opportunity to use the pro's score for the team!
